Fencers Foil Cards,
Lose to Schaumburg
This year's girls' fencing team is on the go. In their first meet of the season December 4, they faced Arlington. The final score was Maine West 12 and Arlington 20. A strip consists of the team's four best players, while on B strip are the team's second best players.
December 6 marked their second meet of the season, their challenger was Schaumburg. Maine West was defeated by a score of 14-18. It wasn't a dark day all around as Yvonne Monreal '75 was moved from B strip to A strip with two wins that day. At their meet on December 12 they hosted Arlington and defeated them by a score of 19-13. The team did exceptionally well that day. A strip consisted of Karen Neetz 2-2, Kathy Pulinski 2-2, Kathy Dueball 2-2, and Debbie Maday 1-3, replacing Yvonne Monreal who was out with a thumb injury. On B strip were Sandy Sadler 0-1, Sue Paska 0-3, Nancy Parrotte 2-2, and Sue Permoda with 2-2.
There are two meets left to the season. On January they meet Hoffman Estates. Then January 16 is the quad at Arlington. Arlington, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Maine West will match their four best players.
