Fencers Place Second
The girls' fencing team won against Schaumburg on December 19. They went on to place second in the tri-meet with 9, just below Arlington with 12. Karen Neetz '74 was 5-1; Kathy Dueball '75 4-2. They ended the season with two wins and two losses. "Things are looking good for the next year with a good turnout of freshmen," said Miss Karen Kenyon.

The girls' gymnastics team started the season with losses to Niles North and Deerfield and then won three in a row from Niles West, Maine South, and Niles East. All the girls execute the same routines in the National D.G.W.S. compulsories. Highlights of the season thus far are 8.05 for Ellen Vana '75 in free exercise, and 8.1 for Carol Cahill '74 on the uneven bars.
Today at 4:30 in B‑wing gym the girls will meet Glenbrook South and Highland Park. Spectators are welcome. On Friday, January 25, also at Maine West, the four Maine schools will compete in optional routines at 1 p.m. in B‑wing gym.

Last year the girls finished fifth in the league. This year they hope to do better as the 18 girls are practicing two and a half hours five days a week.
