Cast Rehearses Play For Performances
This year's Thespian play, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man‑in‑the‑Moon Marigolds, by Paul Zindle, directed by Mr. Robert Norris, is in its last stages of rehearsals in the auditorium. The student staff has been chosen and is working hard putting the finishing touches on the play.
The staff consists of Bruce Costagli '75, state manager; David Franks '74, prop manager; Donna DeWaele '75, art director; Dawn Ciddison '75, costumes; Valerie Gross '74, makeup, and Kathy Dueball '74, audio‑visual.
The play will be performed in three‑quarter round, a stage technique rarely used at Maine West, on February 14, 15, and 16 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets will be sold in the bookstore and are available from Thespian Club members and speech team members for $2.
The characters in the play consist of Tillie, played by Betsy Forkins '75, a 14‑year old girl who tries to escape from her life at home by retreating into her own world of atomic-science; Ruth, portrayed by Kathy Stephenson '74, the older, epileptic sister subject to convulsions.
Mary Jo Zalabak '76, plays Beatrice, the mother who continually brutilizes her youngest daughter, Tilhie, for being the success that Beatrice wasn't.
Other characters in the play are Nanny, the senile, century-old lady, played by Lorrie Swanson '75; and Janice Vickery, a conceited, little girl, played by Luanne Wallin '76.
