Record Review
By JIM KLEINER

Focus - "Live at the Rainbow" - features a sick version of the group's major accomplishment, "Hocus Pocus." Focus shows a lack of talent in playing in front of a live audience. Side one of the album is filled with such undesirable music even a deaf person would turn it down.

The album gives me a notion to believe Focus dubbed in the cheers. After all, who would pay money to see this group?

One bright spot in the album, though, is a cut called "Sylvia," which the group may even have rehearsed.

The end result is an album that will move out of focus fast.

Wishbone Ash - "Live Dates" - is a mixture of all the previous recordings by the group.

The group plays intoxicating live music. In a recent concert held at Wheeling High School, Wishbone Ash played close to perfection. The price of this double album might lighten your billfold, but it is worth the money.
Hawkwind - "Space Ritual" - should have been consolidated into one disc, not only to save money, but to eliminate the dead spots. The album's sound is similar to the sound of Pink Floyd, but without Pink Floyd's talented vocals. A warning to the purchaser: the album has a flimsy cover, which could lead to two broken pieces of vinyl.

Bachman Turner Overdrive "Bachman Turner Overdrive" features the talents of Gary Bachman, formerly of the Guess Who. Bachman was the co-writer of such greats as "American Woman," "No Time," and "Undun." If you have dug the sounds of the Guess Who in the past, pick up a copy of this album.

Chicken Shack - "Imagination Lady" - is the second album by a not-too-well-known group. The group's first album was a flop, but this one is completely the opposite. Chicken Shack does a swingin' version of "If I Were a Carpenter." The band's drumming is outstanding and emphasized on the album. The Beatles - "Rubber Soul" -is an oldie but goodie. The album is fantastic all the way through, which is not unusual for a Beatle album. If you have not purchased this album yet, don't think it will be behind times. The Beatles have always been ahead of their time.
