Varsity Grapplers Keep Winning Ways
The varsity wrestlers are assured of a plus .500 mark when they wrap up the season. On January 25 against Niles East the grapplers won 27-24. They also defeated Oak Park, 24-22, and Niles West, 26-20, earlier in the month.

Senior Stan Cordts leads the varsity in pins this year with six, and junior Brian Real, although behind in the pin column, is still undefeated. Coach Dick Carlini said of the team, "We have had a decent season, better than I expected, but not a good one because in a good season you are undefeated."

The sophomores, being coached by Mr. Erv Geisler, have not fared as well as the varsity team. They have been injury‑ridden, with six wrestlers out for the season. Despite the high number of injuries, however, the team has managed to keep the last few meets close, winning and losing by just a few points.
The freshman squad, at 5-6, also has a chance to finish the season with a winning mark. They have gone through their last four meets at a .750 percentage in defeating in order Deerfield, Oak Park, and Niles West, but losing to Niles East on January 25. Lester Held '77 and Herb Kruppa '77 lead the team in pins with five apiece, but Earl Rolape '77 and Jim Evans '77 are right behind them with 4. Next in line is Bill Kopp '77 with 3.

In speaking of the team, Coach Bill Barringer said that they have a lot of good future varsity talent and potential, and that's what you really look for in a freshman wrestler.
