Project BIG Plans To Get Underway
Project BIG will be held on March 27, 1974, from 7 to 10 p.m. The annual event for the four Maine schools will be held at Maine East. Anyone who is interested in finding out more about any career is invited.
There will be approximately 150 representatives present to discuss over 100 careers. They will be willing to answer any questions of those attending. Parents of students are also invited.
Among the careers to be represented are professional careers such as doctors, lawyers, and teachers, skilled careers such as carpentry and machine operation, and unskilled careers like factory workers, cafeteria managers, and even salesmen.
Some of the questions one may be interested in asking regard the outlooks for employment, such as salaries, benefits, advancement, and location or the personal feelings, satisfaction, prestige, fame, wealth, freedom, and the chance to contribute to society.
Mr. James Killam, career counselor, believes there will be a good turnout for this event.
There are always a great many students in attendance, and he is predicting about 2,000 will come this year. He said, "This is really one of the most outstanding opportunities students will have to really find out what a job is all about. I would certainly encourage every student at Maine West to attend."
