The Maine West swimming team concluded their season with a 121-41 loss to Niles North on February 8. The loss dropped their record to 5-7 for the campaign.
The sophomore team was more fortunate as they defeated Niles 109-48. The Warriors captured all firsts except one.
On Saturday, February 2, the sophomores and freshmen competed in the Highland Park Invitational. Six of the finest swimming schools in the area were entered, and the Warriors finished an encouraging third.
The freshmen took part in a conference meet at Maine North on Saturday, February 9. Although they won most of the events, they finished in seventh place. Tom Ptach '77 set a new freshman record in the 150‑yard free style event with a time of 1:30. The free style of relay team Craig MacNab '77, Mike Foy '77, Jim Acker '77, and Ptach set a new freshman record but still lost the event by one‑tenth of a second.
The varsity will take part in the districts at Niles West this Friday and Saturday.
