Students Represent MW:
Art Now on Display
The "Chicago Six" is now on exhibit at Millikin University's Kirkland Fine Arts Center, Decatur. The exhibit opened February 10.
The "Chicago Area Art Invitational" is presenting two or three dimensional art works from six high schools. The schools that are participating are Rolling Meadows, Maine Township East, Maine Township West, Deerfield, New Trier East, and New Trier West.
Maine West is represented by 40 pieces of art work in the "Chicago Six." The entire Maine West art staff selected the art work which they thought was the strongest student work to represent the Art Department.
Those students represented are Randall Thompson '75, Greg Gion '75, Paul Bayer '75, Steve McMahon '74, Brian Berger '76, Barb Swain '74, Kevin Greene '76, Jo Brown '77, Holly Melling '75, Ruth Bernick '75, John Whipple '75, Tom Tomek '75, Nancy Wein '74, Keith Sove '74, Kathy Kulin '74, Ken Sipple '76, and Linda Behm '76.
Others are Jeff Gallichio '74, Amy Klages '74, Neil Loewe '74, Cheryl Everett '75, Nancy Bistany '74, Patti Bouman '75, Kim Stoltz '76, Nelson Gernandez '75, Steve Grube '74, and Yvonne Monreal '75.
Concluding the list of students are Lyle Hineman '75, Roy Chapman '74, Kathy Stephansen '74, Carol Cahill '74, Laura Jacobson '77, Kathryn Baumgarten '76, Jeanne Lombardo '77, Margaret Zahalan '76, and Barb Kurtz '75.
Mr. Marvin Klauen, chairman of the Millikin University Art Department, said, "The purpose of the exhibit is not only to honor the schools' art programs, but to indicate to our students and Decatur the quality produced in an art program which has support from a participating community."
Kirkland Gallery is open from 12 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 12 to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Students' works include paintings, drawings, pottery, photographs, sculpture, and prints.
