Letters
Dear Editor:
You stated in your last article about the swimmers that the freshmen, although they won most of the events, finished seventh in the conference meet at Maine North. First, it was at Glenbrook South. Second, although we took no first places, by finishing one or two swimmers high in the standings in every event, we took second, not seventh. Our dual meet record was 8‑1.

We are very sorry for our reporter's error.

Dear Editor:
In response to your recent editorial you have no right to call people "cowards" who don't sign their names when they write to you in "Letters to the Editor." It doesn't matter who writes the letter as long as they can get their point across. They write to you to express an opinion with you and the school; and if you don't like the opinion, you don't have to complain about all the people who don't sign their names. Most of the time the name of the person is irrelevant to the subject. If there are "cowards" who don't sign their names, why do you even print the letters?

Editor's Note:
We are considering printing no letters with names withheld. This is the current trend in metropolitan, local, and school papers. If you have something to say, be proud of it and sign your name.

Dear Editor:
In the last issue of the Westerner, you had an editor's note which very much ridiculed our freshmen and sophomore students. Not all freshmen and sophomores are the idiots, which you insinuated, who run around study halls throwing papers and paper clips at each other. It may be true that there are a few immature students, but that does not account for all of the freshmen and sophomores. And then are all our upperclassmen the big mature adult like people which you said?

Dear Editor:
As captain of the Maine West Twirling Team, I would like to point out that at the last basketball game against Niles East we were unable to perform at half‑time. I understand that there wasn't time, but this was our last chance to perform this year and I feel it would have been nice if the announcer could have mentioned the fact that we were unable to perform and why we could not perform.
