Freshman Cheerleaders Chosen
The Maine West sophomore and varsity cheerleaders attended "Camp All American," a cheerleading camp in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, during July 12‑15.
Three hundred girls, representing 50 schools, participated in the competition. The girls went to camp to improve school spirit and compete against others and themselves.
The squad brought home eight ribbons altogether. Two ribbons were for first place cheers, three ribbons for talent, and one for their pompon routine, the only one given.
Jodi Mihelcich, a member of the varsity squad, won the trophy for the prettiest cheerleader at camp.
Diane Williams, captain of the squad, said, "The competition at camp is tough, and I'm really proud of how well we did."
Other members of the winning varsity squad are Marti Fess '75, Madonna Strykowski '75, Ellen Vana '75, Jeanne McNulty '75, Janet Legg '75, Sue Cassidy '75, Carol Kale '76, Carol Jacobsen '76, Carol Mesenbrink '76, Janet Webster '76, Jill Bober '76, and Sue Bowersox '76.
The sophomore squad consists of: Sue Shakespeare, Donna Serano, Diane Buckles, Linda Jacobsen, Jill Heiden, Nancy Cacciatore, Laura Taylor, and Megan Peterson.
On October 5 the squad will be traveling to Randhurst for another competition. All are invited to come and watch.
