Harriers Win Center's Meet
With the varsity squad undefeated in its first four meets, the Maine West harriers will travel to the Ridgewood Invitational tomorrow morning, with the running starting at 10 a.m.
On Saturday, September 14, Maine West hosted its annual Centers Meet, with a great number of area schools competing. The Warriors took first place in four of the five levels run in this meet. Also, on September 21 the Warriors continued their winning ways, taking first place in the Zion-Benton Invitational. Both the varsity and sophomore squads carry a 4-0 record up to this point.
There are three returning senior lettermen this season: Paul Mademann, Job Paul, and Gary Salavitch.
In commenting on the teams, head Coach Bill Barringer said, "They should do very well this year, judging by their performances in the Crystal Lake Invitational and the Centers Meet." He also added, "We always want more boys to come out. They don't realize that they can run distance until they try it."
