Project BIG To Offer
Information on Jobs
This year's Project BIG (business, industry, government) will be held at Maine South on April 9 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Project BIG has representatives of different companies put up booths and exhibits to show students and parents what a wide variety there is in the job market today.

This year's Project BIG will be run differently. Instead of the traditional career night held at other Maine Township High Schools, which provided lecture sessions, students are now able to go around to any of the 150 career representatives and ask specific questions. This saves space and time, and the students get to see more things.

Project BIG will feature about 150 different companies and various fields. This gives students a chance to see all the exciting job opportunities there are.
Students who have a particular field they want to look into should do so now. Students who are not college bound can also see what type of jobs are open.

Booths will be set up in the Maine South spectator gym displaying such things as what the company makes and what type of work is done. Representatives can answer such questions about pay, hours, the experience needed, and company benefits.

Mr. James Gary, director of publicity for Project BIG, said, "The selection of the career to be represented came as a result of extensive feedback from students, teachers, and community residents. It promises to be an excellent cross section of occupations."

"Project BIG is probably one of the most important events in which our students may participate. I hope everyone will take advantage of it." commented Mr. James Killam, career counselor.
