Club News
Computer Science Class Meets With Success
Every school morning, from 7:05 to 7:50, a group of dedicated math students attend the new computer science class. The class consists of juniors and seniors, as well as some accelerated sophomore students. Mr. Stephen Herring, who teaches the course, commented, "because of the early hour, the class really has an elite group of very, very interested math students. It's a pleasure to teach them." Mr. Herring also wrote his own materials such as problem sets and computer projects because of the lack of teaching supplies.
"Nostalgym" is the theme of the gymnastics show which will be presented on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. The Gymnastics Club and boys' gymnastics team will perform on the different kinds of apparatus. Tickets are $1 for students and $1.25 for adults; they can be bought from Gymastic, Club members.
The Ski Club will go on their final trip of the year to Powder Horn, Michigan, and Indian Head, Michigan. They will leave on Monday. March 24, and return on Thursday, March 27. The cost of the trip is $53. There will also be a banquet at Scanda House in Mt. Prospect on Tuesday, April 8. Mr. Wayne Ambrose and Mr. Roger Osborne, faculty sponsors, will be given awards, as will some club members.
On Thursday, March 20, the French Club went on a field trip to the Art Institute in Chicago. They saw an exhibit by Monet, a French impressionist, and visited the Europa Bookstore. They also ate lunch at La Cheminee, a French restaurant.
