Badminton Faces End of Season
The girls' badminton team has lost some very tough matches after a good, strong start this season. The competition has been tougher, and many of the individual contests have been very close.
At Niles North on February 27 the varsity team dominated the meet by winning 6-1. The junior varsity lost a closely contested meet by the score of 4-3.
After winning the first two meets the varsity girls were beaten by a strong Deerfield team on March 5. On March 7 the girls faced the Niles West team at home. The meet was close all the way with five contests requiring a third game. The junior varsity won, 5-2, but the varsity was beaten.
The girls then faced rival Maine South on March 11 and were turned back on both levels. The varsity lost, 5-2, and the junior varsity was defeated 7-0.
In this meet Karen Kiester '76 came from behind to win! her singles match, while the doubles team of Evelyn Johnson '76 and Jane Krauer '76 handled their Hawk opponents.
The girls wind up their season tonight at the Central Suburban League conference meet at Glenbrook North.
