Diamondmen Open With Lane Tech
Relying heavily on team speed and defense, along with some fine pitching, Warrior varsity baseball Coach Al Carstens is looking forward to a fine season on Maine West's diamond.
Returning lettermen on the Warrior ball club include Dan Henk '75, Mike Kelly '75, Russ Mandell '75, Al Mueller '75, and Steve Zuccarini '75. Coach Carstens has also brought up two exceptional players from the sophomore ranks, Rob Earhart '77 and Wayne Wishnew '77.

A strong pitching lineup includes the following hurlers: Henk, Mueller, Earhart, Rich Slapke '75, Buddy Doroskin '76, Dean Marrinson '76, and Tim Laurie '75.
Coach Carstens is the first to admit that the Central Suburban League is one of the toughest in Illinois and that no team is a pushover.
Opening up the season on April 1, the Warriors will face Lane Tech on the away diamond, while the first CSL battle for West will take place on April 7 at Niles West.
