Council To Feature Super Week Fun
Next week is Super Week. Beginning Monday, Student Council is sponsoring an entire week of fun, festivities, and assorted foolishness.
Monday is Hat Day. Students are to wear the most interesting and unique hats they can find. Tuesday will be Grubby Day, and students should wear the oldest, ugliest clothes they can find.
Farmer Day will be Wednesday. Flannel shirts and overalls are expected (maybe even a corncob pipe). Thursday is Spirit Day. On this day students will wear buttons and other doodads to symbolize their overall spirit for Maine West.
What is left for Friday but 50's Day. Hair will be greased.
Pants will be baggy, and girls will have long dresses and high socks.
Winding up Super Week will be a Nostalgia Dance. Student Council president, Jeff Dennis '75, has updated the idea of the annual 50's Dance. The Nostalgia Dance will be a more expanded look into the past.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $1 for singles and $1.50 for couples. Refreshments will be sold in the Path.
Student Council is also sponsoring a Clean Up Des Plaines campaign. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday the Des Plaines recycling center will be manned by members of the Student Council. These representatives will help people unload recyclable goods from their cars.
Student Council has spent an extensive amount of time planning Super Week. Kathy Steinken '75, social committee chairperson, persuaded Crystal Mountain Band from Hersey High School to play for the Nostalgia Dance.
