VOL. XVI, NO. 12
MAY 2, 1975
By PAUL LORENZ

One thing that has always bothered me about baseball, especially high school baseball, is the uncertainty of the day‑today schedule. Maine West has taken care of that problem, though. Each day recently it has been fairly certain that the team wouldn't play.

Maine West will host the IHSA baseball district competition this year, barring unforeseen circumstances, such as floods or earthquakes. The first round will be on Saturday, May 10, and the championship game will be on Monday afternoon, May 12, at 4:15.
In the first game at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Maine West will face Rolling Meadows. In the second contest, which will start about one o'clock that afternoon, Fenton will go up against Elk Grove.

Congratulations to Jim Lofgren '76 for his successful campaign effort in the recent Student Council elections. I'm sure he'll be open to any suggestions next year, so please, give the kid a chance. Just because he's an athlete doesn't mean he's dumb. Besides, I always thought that high school athletics was supposed to help to develop the person's character and leadership in the school.
