American Legion Contest
The winners of the Illinois Boy's and Girl's State, and of the American Legion Constitution Contest were recently announced. Bernie Corr '76 and Glen Watson '76 are the winners of the Illinois Boy's State, and the alternates are Dave Gafrick '76 and James Zabroske '76. The Girl's State winner and alternate are Dian Frankowski '76 and Jan Jason '76.

Illinois Boy's and Girl's State is sponsored by the American Legion and provides citizenship training for juniors all over the country. The winners will spend one week at a college campus this June to participate in a mythical state government. Activities will include conventions, campaigns, elections, and other duties of government officials.
The Constitution Contest, cosponsored by the American Legion and the Social Science Department, is designed to encourage more serious study of the Constitution. All students were invited to take the objective test which was given on Wednesday, April 16. The top scorers of this test were given an oral examination on Wednesday, April 23.

As the first place winner, Jeff Dennis '75 received $200 and will have his name engraved on a plaque in the library. Kathy Greene '75 received the second place award of $100, and Barb Sherman '75 came in third place. Mr. Eric Edstrom, chairman of the Social Science Department, commented, "For the past 40 years, a Des Plaines community organization has provided scholarship help for our contest winners."
