Reviewed Senior Officers Years
Carol Kent, this year's Senior Class president, looks back on a very productive four years at Maine West. Very few seniors can reminisce of so eventful a period.
Carol played the lead in Guys and Dolls and Anything Goes and was in the spring play both her junior and senior years. She is now a Thespian Society member. For two years she was on the Legend staff, and this year she is the art editor for the Westerner. She was recently awarded Quill and Scroll, which is the International Honorary Society for High School Journalists.
Carol Kent was a Pom‑Pon girl for two years, and she played on the archery and softball teams. She is now a member of the National Honor Society. She has been a member of the Maine West Historical Society and Colloquium for two years, and she was elected to Brotherhood Society in her junior year.
For two years Carol was a gym leader, She danced in Orchesis during her freshman and sophomore years, and she is now a member of the Concert Choir. Carol is a Modern Music Master, and during her freshman and junior years she was Class Council secretary.
As Senior Class president, she tried to seek out varied opinions on issues such as Homecoming, graduation, dances, and Baccalaureate.
Carol earned an Art Award, a Science Award, and a Social Science Award. She is planning to go to the University of Texas next year where she will major in theatre arts.
When asked what her fondest memories of Maine West are, Carol replied, "Mr. Burk and how he has listened to any problems and opinions of students. The students of Maine West should always look to and depend on him.
"I'll also miss all the things there are to do in this school. Kids who don't take advantage of all the great activities at this school are fools. They don't know what they're missing."




Patti Bouman, this year's vice president of the Senior Class Council, has had a quite eventful two years at Maine West. A transfer student from an out‑of-state high school during her junior year, she immediately became involved in school activities.
Patti was on the B‑honor roll in both her junior and senior years. She also played volleyball during both years at Maine West.
Patti's immediate popularity helped to get her elected vice-president of the Senior Class Council this year.
Sue Paska has a lot to look back on from these four years at Maine West. As Senior Class Council secretary she has had the responsibility of attending and recording all the Class Council meetings this year.
Sue joined Class Council in her junior year and was elected this year's secretary last spring. She is also on Student Council this year.
Sue Paska has been on the B‑honor roll during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. During her junior year she competed on the fencing team.
Cheryl Van Putte, treasurer for this year's Senior Class Council, has been quite busy during her time at Maine West. This young lady has been involved in sports, academics, and student government during parts of her four years here.
Cheryl began freshman year by attending Student Council. She also played volleyball and stayed on the volleyball team during her sophomore year. Cheryl also won a Business Award during her freshman year.
