VOL. XVI, NO. 14
For the last month- and-a-half honors have been bestowed upon many of our students in the various departments of Maine West for the 1974-75 school year.
The Science Department monopolizes them all, with three scholarships to attend one week environmental workshops on the Lorado Taft field trip going to Sue Ranft '77, Donna Baron '77, and Jennifer Bruns '76. The 1975 science awards were announced also, going to Doug Merkel '75, Betty Lou Evans '75, Richard Skora '75, and Jennifer Bruns '76. All four students received recognition for their various specialized interests in the field of science.
In the Social Science Department Jean Schillmoeller '76 was honored with a National Science Foundation Award and was granted a Field Museum summer scholarship in anthropology.
Bob Roberts '75 received a four‑year college sponsored National Merit Scholarship on behalf of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Bob was also the recipient of an Elk's Club State Scholarship.
In the subject of English Erin Hines '75 had a poem published in an issue of the Illinois English Bulletin. Lorrie Swanson '75 was also awarded an honorable mention from the same organization for best prose in the state of Illinois.
