VOL. XVI, NO. 2
The U and U Society is a club for students who would like to devote their help for after school and night activities.
They usher for V-Show, night school, proms, and many more things. This year's officers were recently picked. They include Mary Mrozek '76, president; Alan Snopek '75, vice-president; and Joanne DiMaggio '76, secretary-treasurer. The sponsor is Mrs. Joan Plock, English teacher. New members are invited to join the club. See Mrs. Plock in A-215 for further information.
The International club president is Barb Andraski '75, vice president is Diane Hawks '76, and publicity chairman is Mark Shekerjian '76.
This year the club is sponsoring Tor Johnson, the A.F.S. student. They also sponsor students from Maine West to go to foreign countries. They sponsor Pizza Day, a fund raising event, to be held on Saturday, November 2, from 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Pizzas will be made and delivered on that day.
The Colloquium Club is a club for students who have had honors in any history class or who have maintained an A average for their last history quarter.
The club's activities are planned by an ad hoc committee. There is no president or vice‑president. This year's activities include field trips, debates, and teacher speakers. The sponsors this year are Ms. Mary Gienko and Mr. Charles Dunn. The club hopes to have as many new members as possible. See Mr. Dunn for further details.
All presidents of clubs held a Club Membership Drive last week on October 10-11. Tables were set up during periods 4, 5, 6, and 9 around the rotunda. Each president of his club was selling all kinds of fund raising products for their club.
There are 35 different clubs. Not every club showed up for the drive; however, many interested students came to inquire about membership to the clubs that were there. Students found the drive interesting and many bought items from the clubs.
The purpose of the club drive was to get many students interested in becoming active in at least one club during the school year.
A new club was formed this year called the Swim Guard Club. The club is composed of student lifeguards who devote their time to teaching swimming lessons. Mr. Darrell Green sponsors the club, and the officers are George Ericksen '75, president: Kathy Dueball '75, girls' head guard; Tony Ayala '76, boys' head guard.
