This fall Maine West has been doing very well in girls' archery, swimming, and tennis. The archery team has six wins and only one loss as its season comes to an end; the swimming team is undefeated; but the tennis team is trying for a comeback.

The archery team was undefeated until October 9 when it met with tough competition in Glenbrook North and lost, 15-5. Recently Barb Breider '76, Maripat Klein '75, Leslie Blietz '77, Kathy Dueball '75, Mary O'Donnell '78, Sandy Sadler '75, and Marianne Wielgos '77 competed in a large school meet of 117 people from 17 schools.
Maripat, Kathy, and Barb took third, fifth, and sixth places, respectively. The girls also won a third place trophy for the team.

The swimming team was victorious in its first meet of the season ever Niles West. They won all events, which includes Pat Sipple '75 in the free style, Betty Lou Evans '75 in the butterfly, Sue Bowersox '76 in the breaststroke, and Karen Gafrick '77 in the distance free style.

Although the girls' tennis team lost its first four meets against Deerfield, Glenbrook South, Niles West, and Niles East, several players were victorious in individual matches. The team did beat Maine East, 7‑0.
