Harriers Carry Imposing
Overall Record Into Districts
"We think we can get through sectionals; and if we do get to the state, I'm sure we will do well there, too," commented Coach Bill Barringer about the cross country team.
On Saturday, September 28, the Warriors traveled to the Ridgewood Invitational to compete with 19 other schools. The varsity Warriors took first place and the sophomores took second. Monday, September 30, the teams went to Elk Grove to compete with Elk Grove, Conant, and Fremd.
"The most important meet of the year so far was against Maine East, because for all practical purposes it decided the conference championship," explained John McCabe '75. "It showed we really could take the pressure," he added.
The Warriors defeated the highly ranked Maine East team on Thursday, October 3, 26-30. They also defeated Niles East and Glenbrook North, 17-46, 1942, in the same meet. The sophomores also defeated Niles East and Glenbrook North but lost to Maine East. The freshmen lost to all three.
On Saturday, October 5, the Warriors went to Oak Park to participate in the Huskie Invitational. The varsity and freshmen took first, and the sophomores placed sixth out of 21 schools. On October 10, the
Warriors took first place on all three levels against Highland Park, New Trier West, Lane Tech, and Taft. On Saturday, October 12, the Warriors traveled to Libertyville for the Libertyville Invitational and took second place out of 11 schools.
Coming up on the Warrior schedule is conference on October 18, districts on October 22, sectionals on October 26, and state on November 2.
