Kisten Sets Course Record
In the first fall season of golf, the varsity compiled a 4-13 record in probably the toughest conference in the state. The one bright spot on the squad was Scott Kisten '75, who shot a school and course record of 33 at Chevy Chase to beat Wheeling on October 9. Kisten led the Warrior golfers to a fourth place finish in the districts by pacing the team with a 73. Scott was district co-champion and is expected to be in the top three in the sectionals.
Speaking about his varsity partners, Tony Copley '75, Mike Hoepfner '75, Jim Kossick '75, Bill Bucher '76, and Bill Aslan '76, Kisten said, "Everyone this year has excellent golf ability, but we just couldn't score consistently low at the same time."
Golf has traditionally been a spring sport at Maine West and the golfers are looking toward a better spring season. The freshman and sophomore golfers took some tough losses, but they feel the experience they gained this fall will benefit them in the spring.
