Homecoming is here again! I still don't quite understand why schools put together a parade, a football game, and a dance and call it Homecoming; but it's a good thing to have.

There is one major difference between the Homecoming game and a Maine South game, though. Unlike a Maine South game, the average student's response to Homecoming might be, "Homecoming? Yeah, I'm goin'. Who we playin'?"

In tonight's case the answer to the previous question would be Deerfield. Optimistically, the last time Maine West won a Homecoming game, (four years ago, and that's not the optimistic part) their victim was Deerfield in a 21-20 verdict.
Some guys who won't be thinking too much about tonight's football game are the guys on the soccer team, who are going over to Maine East today for the conference playoffs. I don't know what they were thinking about in their one and only night game this year when they ran through the wrong end of the hoop before the game. Unlike their season so far, which has been practically flawless, I suppose this pre‑game mistake can be chalked up to inexperience.
