Nancy Parrotte '77 was commended for speed skating in the national championships. The swimmers receive certificates for being from the top 10 in the state. Coach Royleen Tipton was chosen for the I.S.H.A.
Nancy Parrotte '77 has been a part of speed roller skating for two years. This past summer she placed second in the state meet, and individually she was awarded a trophy to add to her collection of 61. She then went to the National Speed Skating Championships in West Palm Beach, Florida, on July 14-20. Nancy placed second in the two-mile relay along with three other team mates and was honored with a trophy. She placed fourth individually with competition between Illinois and Indiana. When asked if her chances were good to win the relay, she replied, "I was shocked when they called my name to receive a bronze medal."
Three girls from the swimming team recently competed in the statewide swimming meet October 26. Sue Bowersox '76 was awarded for the breaststroke, Pat Sipple '75 was commended for the 50, 100, and 200‑yard free style. Betty Lou Evans '75 was given a certificate for the 100‑yard butterfly.
The girls' archery team placed third in the invitational meet at Glenbrook North, October 5. Out of 118 archers Maripat Klein '75 won third place in individual meets. Kathy Dueball '75 and Barb Breider '76 took fifth and sixth places respectively. Coach Royleen Tipton was recommended for the I.H.S.A. volleyball committee. She said of her job on this committee, "We will give our ideas on how volleyball should be run throughout the state of Illinois."
