Thanksgiving Feasts Begin With Thanks
By SUE CARUSO

Turkey and dressing, whipped potatoes, homemade pumpkin pie, and other homemade treats all play a big part in the celebration of Thanksgiving Day. Food. Is that what this day is all about? Did Governor Bradford, in 1621, declare a day of feasting just so all of the pilgrims could stuff themselves like gluttons for an entire day?

That first Thanksgiving was a declared day of thanks to God. All of the pilgrims gathered together all of their crops and good fortune and celebrated and rejoiced that all of their hard times had come to an end.
In short, Thanksgiving really means a day of thanks for all that we have. All of us have at least one good thing to thank God or someone for, and Thanksgiving is the time to do it. Whether it be a good job, good luck, or just plain happiness, each of us can surely find one thing in our lives we should be thankful for having.

Thanksgiving gives us all a chance to feel that we are special people because on that day we can really feel just how fortunate we are.

Make this Thanksgiving a memorable one. Try to think of nothing but how much good there is in the world to be thankful for. On that day, too, everyone just might be thanking God for one thing that we all have in common: life; and we will know how truly lucky we are.
