Cafeteria Is Better
With Student Care
The amount of cooperation students give in keeping the cafeteria clean seems to reflect on how much each student cares. This year they seem to try more because the cafeteria is cleaner than it has ever been in past years.
Four years ago the cafeteria problem was at its worst with quite a lot of garbage ending up on the floor rather than garbage cans.
With the addition of new garbage cans placed between most tables and frequent urging to keep the area clean, the cafeteria conditions have steadily improved.
Milk cartons are one type of garbage that is found on the floor frequently. This is usually because students tend to throw them into the garbage cans and miss.
Most kids sit in the same general area when they eat lunch so cafeteria supervisors are able to spot the problem places and try to urge the students to cooperate and do their part to keep the area clean.
Ms. Elizabeth Elliott, paraprofessional, feels that "Each year we continue to improve conditions, and the majority of the students do cooperate."
Mr. Robert Riek, dean of boys, also feels conditions have steadily improved. When asked about student cooperation he replied, "The large percentage of students do cooperate and are concerned about the cafeteria, but there are still a few who aren't considerate of other students and the supervisors."
