Thespian Society Expands Greatly
The International Thespian Society initiated 13 members on December 19, 1974 at 5 p.m. These members are Laura Ballauer '75, Annette Buck '77 Barb Drelicharz '77, George Gatsis '76, Chuck Hervas '76, Linda Hillstrom '75, Carol Kent '75, John Lange '75, Dan Morava '75 Michelle Moscinski '77, Sue Noftz '75, Megan Petersen '77, and Ron Williams '75.

The enrollment is decided by meritorious participation in theatre arts. Each time a student performs any function in the theatre he receives a designated amount of points. When 10 points are gained, he is eligible for membership. A fee of $3 is paid for life membership and entitles the Thespian to a year's subscription to Dramatics magazine.

The initiation involved a ceremony incorporating the history and the responsibilities of a thespian. The ceremony also included a humorous tinge with short skits. These were performed by the president, Bruce Costagli '75; vice-president, Mary Jo Zalabak '76; secretaries, Lorrie Swanson '75 and Betsy Forkins '76; and a thespian member, Steve Pelinski '77.
Mr. Ron Mills, the sponsor of troupe 2119, then recited the oath taken by all incoming thespians. He continued to emphasize the honors and responsibilities that a thespian member must uphold. Mr. Mills urges the participation in theatre arts at Maine West. Linda Hilistrom believes that "All people should try to become involved whether it be directly with the productions or indirectly by being the ever important audience."

It must be remembered that there are more facets to the theatre other than acting on stage. Steve Pelinski presented the importance of the technical theatre at the initiation. He stressed that it enhances the play and sets an atmosphere as soon as the curtain rises.

The Thespian Society of troupe 2119 presently has 27 members and hopes to recruit more.
