O.O. Wins 11 Awards
The office occupations classes went to their area conference in Zion, Illinois, on December 5-6 and brought back 11 awards.

Mr. Virn McElwain, office occupations teacher, accompanied the students to Zion‑Benton High School. The group won six first place trophies, three second place awards, and two third place awards.

The first place trophies went to Laurie Peterson '75 for spelling and arithmetic; Alan Snopek '75 for Mr. Office Education Association, a job interview contest, and for the 10‑key adder; Debra Novak '75 for keypunch; and Marcha Suchomel '75 and Sue Tabaka '75 for the talent contest.
The second place awards were won by Ann Szarzynski '75 for typing Debra Pauly '75 for shorthand, and Bernadette Nuesslein '75 for spelling.

The third place awards were presented to Lynn Raupp '75 for machine transcription and Debra Pauly '75 for typing. This was the area conference; the group will go to the state conference in March after qualifying in February.

During these student leadership conferences the groups go to workshops, to a banquet, as well as their contests. The national conference will be held later in the year in Chicago.
