Grapplers Take First
At Forest View Quad
Maine West wrestling is off to one of the greatest starts in its history, with the varsity winning its first 10 meets. Coach Dick Carlini is very enthusiastic for one of his most successful seasons ever.

Since the last issue the Warriors have grappled in six meets and won every one of them. On December 13 West beat the Glenbrook South Titans, 31-12, followed by wins against Maine East (31-15), New Trier East (39-15), Glenbrook North (28-21), and Notre Dame (28-21). They also took first place in the Forest View Quad with wins over Arlington (22-19) and St. Viator (45-3).

Of all the Warrior meets the most exciting had to be against Arlington last Saturday. With the score knotted up at 19 apiece Kevin Wilkens '75 defeated his heavyweight opponent to keep the Warriors' record flawless.

Winning most consistently for West have been Bryan Real '75, Louie DePasquale '76, Brad Bonnivier '75, Dan Cavazos '76, Roger Herrera '75, and Mike Tramel '77.
Big meets coming up for the varsity Warriors include tonight's match at home against Deerfield at 6:30 p.m. and next Friday's at Niles East.

On the freshman level the Warriors have an overall 7-1 record and an undefeated 3-0 mark in the Central Suburban League South Division. There have been some outstanding performers on this level that should be given recognition.

Some of these grapplers include Don Arrigo '78, Dave Robinson '78, Humberto Suarez '78, Tom Frazier '78, and Ralph Jacobson '78.

Among the wins for West were victories over Glenbrook South (45-18), Maine East (33-21), New Trier East (33-22), Glenbrook North (39-22), and Notre Dame (53-6).

Coach Bill Barringer feels that this is one of his best squads ever and is looking forward to his meets against Deerfield and Niles East, which are on the same days as the varsity matches.
