Musical Readies For Production
The cast has been chosen for this year's Maine West Broadway musical, Anything Goes. The two leads have been double cast.
The female stars will be Carol Kent '75 and Mary Jo Zalabak '76 alternately playing the role of Reno Sweeney, a happy‑go-lucky hooker on shipboard with six of her night club angels.
Joe Detzner '75 and Thom 0'Donnell '76 will share the role of Billy Crocker, a love‑struck Wall Street broker, who stows away on a transatlantic ship to prevent his love from marrying Sir Evelyn Oakleigh.
Billy's love, Hope Harcourt, will be played by Annette Buck '77; and her fiance will be Ron Williams '75. Hope's mother will be played by Corrine Bergquist '75; and Ed Hajost '77 will portray Billy's boss, Elisha J. Whitney.
Steve Pelinski '77 will be Moonface Martin, Public Enemy Number 13; and his lady love Bonnie will be Lorelei Rhines '75. Greg Morava '77 will play the Bishop Henry T. Dobson, and his two Chinese valets will be Brad Serani '75 and Bruce Weaver '77.
Reno Sweeney's angels will be Purity, Troci Sheldon '77; Chastity, Julie Stoneburner '78; Charity, Lorrie Swanson '75; Virtue, Barbara Olsen '76; Faith, Jeanne Zemaites '77; and Patience, Joanne Jerger '77.
The captain of the ship will be Mark Hamilton '75, and the purser will be Eric Suevel '77. The crew includes: Bill Atherton '78, Dave Hanson '76, Scott Jackson '76, Bill Wright '78, Mark Hamilton, Brad Serani, Eric Suevel, and Bruce Weaver.
The passenger list has Alice Bartz '76, Cindy Burgstrom '76, Karen Degenhardt '76, Chris Detzner '76, and Donna DeWeale '75. Also aboard are Kathy Dueball '75, Karen Kaiser '75, Jean Kott '75, Pam Linke '75, Amy Robinson '77, Sheryl Rohrbein '77, and Debbie Wilson '75.
Mr. Robert Kuite, Music Department chairman and music director of Anything Goes, said, "We appreciate everyone who tried out; and even though it is early, it looks like we have a good cast."
Asked to comment on the show, Joe Detzner said, "I think this will be a fabulous show because of the great music."
