West Earns First Place At Triangular
Last Friday, January 24, Maine West girls' gymnastics team took first place at triangular meet, contending against Maine South and New Trier West, with a total of 78 to 74 and 70 points, respectively. First place on uneven bars went to Dottie Gallucci '76 with 7.2.
On balance beam second place went to Joan DeLaet '76 with a 6.45 while third place went to Jill Heiden '77 with a 6.25. Top place on floor exercise was taken by Ellen Vana '75 with an 8.35 while second place went to Jill Heiden with a 7.9. Second place for vaulting was taken by Sandy Dolotowski '77 with a 7.4.
On Tuesday, January 21, Maine West defeated Glenbrook South at Glenbrook South by a score of 78.6 to 74.2. The top three finishers on balance beam were Jill Heiden with a 6.65, Noreen Barry '76 with a 6.55 and Joan DeLaet with a 7.50.
The girls' gymnastics team will compete in the league meet at Niles North on January 31 at 4:30 p.m., with finals on February 1 at 1 p.m.
