Gymnasts Take Two
Of Last Three Meets
Maine West's gymnastics team lost last Saturday, January 25, to Glenbrook South by a score of 96.45 to 116.05. The score was fairly close after the first two events, floor exercise and side horse; however, after the trampoline event Maine West trailed by 13 points.

Even with this setback many of the top scores were taken by the Maine West gymnasts. Taking top scores were Neil Sosdian '75 with a 7.2 on side horse, Patrick Dent '76 with an 8.15 for floor exercise, Rick Paulson '75 with a 6.95 on still rings, Steve Baker '75 with a 6.35 on high bar, and Bill Davis '75 on parallel bars with a 6.6.

On Friday, January 24, Maine West's gymnastics team took on Highland Park. The Maine West gymnasts defeated the Highland Park team, 102.06 to 70.35. Taking command on floor exercise was Patrick Dent, top scorer of the meet, with a 7.7, while second place went to Mike Swiatek '75 with a 6.55.
Matching Dent's score was Neil Sosdian on the side horse, also taking first place with a 7.7. The top two positions on high bar were taken by Mike Swiatek with a 7.2 and Steve Baker with a 6.4.

Others taking the top places were Patrick Dent with a 5.15 on trampoline, Bill Davis with a 7.0 on parallel bars, and Rick Paulson with a 7.25 on still rings. All‑around champion of the meet was Mike Swiatek with a 5.41 average.

On Saturday, January 18, on home ground, Maine West defeated Deerfield by 103.71 to 92.67. Exhibiting top form on floor exercise was Patrick Dent with an 8.3. Top finisher on side horse was Neil Sosdian with an 8.05. Top scorer on high bar was Steve Baker with a score of 6.95.
