Ann Reily '75 Wins
Homemaker Award
This year's Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Award went to Ann Reily '75.

The twenty‑first annual nationwide test was given on December 13, 1974. The 50‑minute test consisted of both multiple choice questions and one essay at the end. This test was open to both boys and girls. A total of about 60 seniors took the test.

After the tests were completed by the students, they were then sent to the Science Research Associates to be graded. One student, from each high school, who took the test was chosen to represent the school as the homemaker of the year. Then each winner's test was submitted once again to enter the competition for the state winner. Each state winner will be awarded a trip to Washington, D.C. From there each student will be given a chance for the title of Homemaker of the Year. Four winners of the national contest will be given scholarships from $5,000 to $2,000.
Mrs. Lucille Stiles, Home Economics Department chairman, commented that it was a very good turnout and that she was very pleased at the turnout of boys.

The test consisted of questions concerning basic living such as nutrition, money management, and psychology. The essay question at the end asked, "Are material things in life really important?" Ann Reily replied, "Material things are only temporary and are not very lasting. The only way a person can be happy and fulfilled is if they are in harmony with God and fulfilling the purpose in which He created them, which I think is the best one."

During her school years, Ann has taken several home economics courses, such as child development, psychology, and clothing. She also thought that the test was hard in a way, from there she will attend a nursing school.
