'Anything Goes'
Musical Rehearsal Gets Underway
This year's Broadway musical, Anything Goes, will be performed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 13, 14, and 15 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. There will also be a Wednesday matinee at 4 p.m.
Students and faculty are already hard at work each afternoon in an effort to make this the best Maine West musical in history. Mr. Robert Norris has designed the sets for Mr. Robert Pelikan, who, with the aid of his woodshop classes, is building the sets.
Mr. George Blanas, Art Department chairman, is designing the female costumes with the assistance of Rhoda Henrich '75 and Holly Melling '75. All the male costumes will be rented.
Mrs. Susan Gelz and Mrs. Kathy Lawyer are choreographing the dance numbers for the show, not only for the dance chorus, but for those in the major roles as well. Student choreographers are Nancy Wilson '76 and Joy Schultz '75.
Members of the dance chorus are Donna Pederson '77, Anne Kuite '76, Margaret Hellmer '77, Janet Seitz '76, Julie Struck '76, Cathy Lawlor '76, Audrey Nyberg '75, Michelle Moscinski '77, Erica Rems '78, Terri Kehe '78, Connie Latson '77, Debbie Lambert '76, Jo Ann Siska '76, and Linda Hillstrom '75.
Mr. Bruce Nelson, director, and Mr. Robert Kuite, music director, have chosen Chris Prochenski '78 as assistant to the director. Mr. Kuite called the music "one of the best musical scores of any Broadway musical. It should be a lot of fun to put on."
The painting of the sets will be primarily in neutral colors. The brighter colors will be concentrated in the costumes. Mrs. Helen Beck will coordinate the patterns for Anything Goes, as she has done for each musical since The Sound of Music in the spring of 1971. Mr. Blanas said, "She is like a professional. Her help is beyond measure."
All information about Anything Goes is to be found on the board located outside R-210. This includes information on rehearsals, dance chorus, tickets, crews, etc.
