Cupid Spreads Love Through
Halls of MW
By CINDY GRACZYK

The date - February 14. The day - Valentine's Day, the day Cupid waits anxiously for all year. Today is the day Cupid flies through the air, and with his tiny arrows he pierces the hearts of the young as well as the old whom he wishes to inspire with love.

Manned only with his bow and magic arrows, Cupid proceeded with his plans to spread love and happiness throughout the halls and classrooms of Maine West.

Cupid entered Maine West through the bus concourse and followed the rotunda until he reached the cafeteria. No one seemed to notice him because everyone was too busy eating lunches, talking, or breaking plates.

All of a sudden two boys began to fight and the whole cafeteria was chanting "hit him." Cupid flew to the rescue and shot a magic arrow into the backsides of each of the boys and also the supervisor on duty. The boys immediately ended the fight, shook hands, and returned to their seats. The supervisor continued to patrol the cafeteria but did not turn in any names the rest of the day.
To remain hidden, Cupid decided to walk among the other people in the halls. All at once, a group of kids yelled, "There's a streaker!" Immediately everyone looked at Cupid. Since he was shorter than most of the students, he dashed in and out of their legs. He escaped into the boys' washroom only to be intoxicated by cigarette smoke, but at least he would not be noticed.

Cupid waited in the washroom until the passing bell rang and then proceeded to fly down the hall. Half way down the hall Cupid looked into a classroom and noticed a situation where he felt he could provide some help.

A girl was sitting next to a boy whom she liked very much, but from the look on his face he seemed uninterested. Cupid positioned himself and shot his arrow very carefully into the heart of this boy. All at once he turned to the girl and started talking to her, and by the end of class they were holding hands.

Cupid left Maine West and returned home to rest until he would be called upon next Valentine's Day.
