Warriors Bonnivier, Herrera,
Real Earn Trip Downstate
Maine West's wrestling team moved into district and sectional competition with a good attitude, and it paid off for them as three Warriors will be going downstate this weekend for the state championships.

Seven Warriors, Tom Krauser '77, weighing 98 pounds, Bryan Real '75 at 112, Mike Tramel '76 at 119, Brad Bonnivier '75 at 132, Dan Cavazos '76 at 138, Roger Herrera '75 at 145, and heavyweight Kevin Wilkens '75 won the right to compete in sectionals by winning or finishing high in their weight classes in district battles held at Maine West a week before.

Out of those seven Krauser, Tramel, Bonnivier, and Herrera won their weight classes. In overall team scores the Warriors easily won the meet with 91 points while Forest View took second with 63 1/2.
Last weekend Real, Bonnivier, and Herrera earned the right to go downstate by finishing second in their respective weight classes. The sectionals were held at West Leyden and Maine West took third in overall team score behind East Leyden and Hersey. Unfortunately Wilkens was not able to compete due to illness.

On the freshman level the Warriors placed second last Wednesday in their conference championship meet held at Glenbrook North. Niles North managed to take first in the meet, though by only 11/2 points.

Winning in his weight class for the Warriors was Dave Cayazos '75 at 185 while Humberto Suarez '78 at 132 and Ralph Jacobson '78 at 167 took second place honors.
