Maine West indoor track is off and running at a steady pace. On Wednesday, February 12, Maine West won a meet against Loyola by a 65-43 score. Maine West took firsts in the mile relay and 880-yard relay.

Other top efforts were first place in high hurdles by Steve Myers '76, first in the 440‑yard run by Randy Van Vleck '75, and first in the mile by Joe Paul '75. Maine West also had a clean sweep in the field events by placing first in the long jump, high jump, and pole vault.

On Saturday, February 15, Maine West competed against Proviso West in the Proviso West Invitational, a 12‑school meet. Highlights were provided by the 880‑yard relay and the mile relay teams, each taking second place.
Individual efforts were by John Whipple '75, taking fifth in the low hurdles; Randy Van Vleck, taking a second in the 880‑yard run; and Scott Sykora '75, taking a fifth in the pole vault event.

At its next meet on Wednesday, February 19, Maine West once again won, this time against Niles North, by a score of 84-24. Maine West really did the job at this meet by placing first in the low hurdles, high hurdles, 50-yard dash, 880-yard run, high jump, 880-yard relay, shot put, 440-yard run, pole vault, long jump, and mile run.

At the end of this meet Coach Ron Brown stated, "We are looking forward to competing in the Indoor Conference Meet."
