As School Begins
Isn't It a Drag
isn't it a drag . . .
During that first painful hour in homeroom on the first day of school.
Walking into your first class and having everyone stare at you.
Worrying who you're going to Homecoming with.
Looking for a job.
Tripping while walking down the main stairs.
Being the only senior in your study hall.
Not being able to fit a lunch period into your schedule.
Having 4A or 6B lunch.
Getting out after ninth period.
Dropping a book in the middle of a crowded hall.
Getting a detention for being late to homeroom.
Waiting in line at the bookstore.
Only getting a half pint of milk.
Having swimming first period.
Serving a detention ninth period or after school.
Not having any classes with your friends.
Running out of ink in the middle of a test.
When all of your assignments are due on the same date.
Having to buy five different paperbacks for English class.
Being called on while staring out the window.
When your homeroom is at the end of upstairs A‑wing and your first period class is at the end of downstairs C‑wing.Waiting in line at lunch and finding out there isn't any milk left.
Getting caught in the hall without a hall pass for the first time in three years.
Getting a teacher that all of your friends told you not to get stuck with.
Filling out the pink slips in the LRC.
When there is only one minute left to get to your class and a teacher stops you and gives you a lecture on running in the halls.
Getting in a class that doesn't take any field trips.
Trying to get in to see your counselor.
