'Joy to the World' Begins Work
By THOM O'DONNELL

The thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days of November in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and seventy‑five, the Maine Township High School West Student Council and Drama Department present "Joy to the World," a variety show.

Among the notables in the staging of this production are Mr. Ronald Mills, who, according to legend, has been directing drama presentations since the days of Shakespeare and Moliere; and Scott Peckenpaugh '76 who it seems has been acting and working backstage for just as long.

Coordinating the sound from the pit band will be Mr. Robert Kuite, the old master whose job is to hear the mistakes. Naturally, even a pro needs assistants; therefore, Tom Fischer '76, Mark Davis '76, and Mark Shekerjian '76 fill in there.

Mr. Robert Norris is designing the sets we look at when he acts perform. Mary Jo Zalabak '76 is the student designer who will take the credit.

Mary Darling '77 and Sue Melchert '76 are responsible for the faces seen on stage. As make up chairpersons they can make a Garbo or a Frankenstein out of anyone.

Take a close look at any movement on the stage. All of it is the result of hours and hours of painful choreographing by the student choreographers Carrie Mack '76, Janet Seitz '76, and Lou Pontarelli '76.

None of these characters could be seen without the benevolent help of Mike Henson '78. "Let there be light," the man says; and when all have recovered from the sudden appearance of hundreds of 5,000 watt bulbs, the show can begin.

It's worth the thousands of dollars Des Plainesites will fork over to see it. Plenty of people are putting much work into this show.
