This year's Westerner will no longer carry years of players in team sports after their names. This new form was adopted as suggested by Quill and Scroll Society, the international honorary society for high school journalists.
In the 1975 scorebook the paper was graded by a team of judges from the Quill and Scroll Society. A comment was made about the placement of years after players in team sports. It was suggested that the omission of years would promote more team spirit and better attitudes among players.
Also the Westerner would like readers to note that the omission of certain sports at times will be due to a lack of space. Those sports that have been omitted will be featured in future issues.
