Girls' Badminton Holds 4-0 Record
The girls' varsity badminton team is hoping to clinch its first Central Suburban South championship in three years at its next conference meet yesterday and today at Maine South. The team has an overall record of 4-0 with three games to play.
Several girls have outstanding records this year. Among the undefeated varsity members are first singles player Karen Kiester, third singles player Robin Downing, fourth singles player Barb Klein, and the first doubles combination of Evelyn Johnson and Jane Krauser, Other varsity members include Jenny Bruns, Denise Gosler, Beth Reinke, Barb Breider, and Laurie Meissner,
"The main factor of the successful season we've had this year is experience," stated Miss Royleen Tipton, badminton coach. "Most of the varsity players are seniors who have competed for three or four years. In addition to playing ability, they have a good understanding of the game, and this counts heavily toward winning matches." Miss Tipton has coached the team for seven years, during which it has been champion four times.
