VOL. XVII, NO. 11
Maine Township High School District 207 will present the annual Project BIG (Business, Industry, Government) this Thursday. This year it will be held at Maine North from 7 p.m. until 9:30p.m.
Representatives put up booths and exhibits to show students and parents what a wide variety there is in the job market today. Booths will be set up at Maine North displaying such things as what the company makes and what type of work is done. Representatives can answer questions about pay, hours, experience needed, and company benefits.
Mr. James Killam, career counselor, commented, "Project BIG is a great opportunity to actually talk to people who work in specialized fields that the students are interested in. We feel that's a very important way to find out what a certain job is all about."
There will be over 150 careers represented, and students will be' able to go around and talk to any of the representatives. A committee of the faculty, students, and career counselors choose the careers that will be represented at Project BIG, by what jobs are in demand and by what high school students are interested in.
Project BIG is a great opportunity for students who have a particular field they want to look into and for students who are not college bound so they can see what types of jobs are open.
Mr. Killam will answer any questions about Project BIG in the Guidance office.
