Cancer Society To Hold 'Ride'
By SHARI SCHLACHTER

"The British are coming! The British are coming!" Those were the famous words of Paul Revere on his famous ride through Lexington and Concord when he warned the minutemen. Now, the Maine West Leaders Club is calling you to ride with them at the Paul and Paula Revere Bike Marathon.

The marathon is mainly being held to raise money for cancer research. Each bike rider will be given pledge cards. Pledge cards can be obtained in E-112 or the Student Council office.
People who pledge money will pay that amount every time a rider bikes completely around the school grounds. Three-fourths of the proceeds will be given to the American Cancer Society. The Des Plaines Historical Society will receive one-fourth of the money.

Anyone who can ride a bike can enter the marathon. It starts at 10 am. on May 1 by Maine West's football field. From there the bike riders will ride to Oakton Street, passed the tennis courts to Howard, and back again without any shortcuts. Any kind of bike may be entered.
