Teachers, Clubs Award Scientists
The Maine West Science Awards Program will be held on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The recipients of these awards are selected by their science teachers. To receive an award the student must have an A average for the first three quarters.
Several special awards will be given out. These include the American Cyanamid Award, the Bausch and Lomb Award, and two certificates presented by the Society of Women Engineers. These awards are given to students who have shown outstanding performance in science.
The Science Club will present several scholarships which enable students to attend summer environmental workshops at various universities. Some of the money for these scholarships came from the activities of the Science Club this year. Contributions were also received from the Kiwanis and Des Flames Garden Clubs.
The program this year will be presented by Mr. Floyd Raspiller and some of his biology students.
