'A Salute To Bicentennial'
To Open May 6 in Rider Gym
The theme for this year's Festival of Art will be "A Salute to the Bicentennial." The festival will be held in the Herman L. Rider Gymnasium on May 6 and 7.

The exhibit will be open to English and art classes only, with the freshman and sophomore classes going Thursday and juniors and seniors on Friday. The junior high students will also be bused in on Friday to enjoy the festival. Students are asked not to come during their free periods.

Some of the exhibits will be paintings, drawings, ceramics, photographs, and many varieties of crafts. Students will also be demonstrating their works.
The festival will also be open to the public from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. both evenings. On Friday night there will be some professional artists demonstrating their work. Mr. Win Jones will paint; Ms. Fran Piehl will do macramé; and Mr. Tony Holmes will work on the potter's wheel. They will be working in the art rooms in E‑wing. These rooms will also be open to the public.

Mr. George Blanas, chairman of the Art Department, stated, "The main purpose of the festival is to show student work and bring more culture to the people."
