Music Dept. To Hold Recital
The Solo and Ensemble Recital, sponsored by the Maine West Music Department, will be held May 6, starting at 7 p.m. All recitals will be held in the auditorium and the music rooms.

Mr. Robert Kuite, chairman of the Music Department, welcomes any student musician at Maine West to participate, playing with a group or playing solo. All parents and students are invited to watch these performances.

There will be three main categories: brass and woodwinds, strings, and voice. Several qualified judges will be on hand. Mr. Kuite said the judges are "outstanding professionals and teachers" from the Chicagoland area.
After hearing the student, the judge will give him a ranking of either superior, excellent, good, or fair. At the end of the day, each judge will select a student that he feels was the best of all the students he ranked. All students selected will perform the next day at 4 p.m. Their performances will be held in the orchestra room before all the judges.

Mr. Kuite added that the winner selected will play at the District 62 Maine Township Music Festival. It will be held at Maine West in the Herman L. Rider Memorial Gymnasium and will be "packed with a couple thousand people." Admission will be $1 for adults and $.75 for children.
