West Tennis Wins Over Elk Grove
A big win over Elk Grove Apr. 14 helped brighten an otherwise dismal week for the Maine West varsity tennis team. The Warriors defeated Elk Grove 5‑0.
Winners in the meet were Tim Keenly, Bob Wyatt, and Tom Gebhardt in singles. The team of Mike Hand and John Minardi won in doubles as did the team of Shawn Nesbit and Mike Maday.
Against Maine South Apr. 22 the Warrior netmen were edged 3-2. Tom Gebhardt won in singles, and the team of Mike Hand and John Minardi won in doubles.

On the sophomore level the Warriors beat Elk Grove 5-0 and Maine South 4-1. Winners against Elk Grove were Jeff English, Torn Gearhart in singles. The team of Quinn and Cooke won in doubles as did the team of Packard and Unfer.
Against New Trier East the sophomore netmen lost 4-1. The doubles team of Packard and Unfer were the only winners.
