'Our Town' Continues
Tonight, Tomorrow
Maine West's production of Our Town gave its opening night performance last night and will continue through tomorrow, May 15. The play is presented in the auditorium, and each night's performance starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the bookstore or from members of the Thespian Society, Speech Team, or cast.
The play is about the lives of the people living in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, at the turn of the century. The play centers around the love between Emily Webb and George Gibbs (played by Megan Peterson '77 and Joe Anderson '76) and how they live throughout a nine‑year period represented in the play of three acts. The first act is a typical day in their lives; the second is three years later; and the third, nine years later.
Our Town differs from most other plays in that there is no scenery and no curtain.
Other members of the Our Town cast are Steve Pelinski '77 (narrator and stage manager), Dick Lindberg '78 (Joe Crowell), Bruce Weaver '77 and Sandi Scheffel '76 (Mr. and Mrs. Webbs), and Kathleen Sanford '78 (Rebecca Gibbs).
Some other cast members are Vince Schultz '79 (Wally Webbs), George Gatsis 76 (Howie Newsome), Carrie Mack '76 (Mrs. Soames), Jeff Stine '78 (Sy Crowell) and Kevin Marquette '78 (Prof. Willard).
Still other members are Stanley Lata '76 (Simon Stinson), Scott Peckenpaugh '76 (Joe Stoddard), Tom Koontz '77 (Sam Craig), and John Jones '77 (Warren). The director of Our Town is Mr. Daryl Schultz.
